New Delhi: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has asked Pakistan all it can to ensure the release of abducted UNHCR official John Solecki at the earliest.
According to Dawn News, Ban Ki-Moon discussed the matter with Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari over the phone on Saturday.
President Zardari is reported to have assured the UN chief that Pakistan will do all it can for Solecki's safe recovery.
He reportedly told Ban Ki-moon that the government has taken the kidnapping 'very seriously' and mobilised all its resources for his release.
During the conversation, the two leaders also discussed the progress made after the establishment of a UN inquiry commission to probe Benazir Bhutto's assassination.
Ban Ki-moon also thanked the president for the hospitality during his visit to the federal capital.
