Delhi: After an impressive five-wicket haul against the Delhi Daredevils that helped Royal Challengers Bangalore win a crucial contest on Friday, pacer Jaidev Unadkat was delighted with his performance and said variation in bowling did the trick for him.
The left-arm pacer, who picked up Mahela Jayawardene, Virender Sehwag, Unmukt Chand, Kedar Jadhav and Morne Morkel, told IPL website that varying the pace and picking wickets early in the innigs was very crucial.
"The wicket was a little dry and we stuck to a plan. It was a good thing that I got the two wickets. We needed those wickets in the powerplay early on. We did not plan for those two early wickets [Mahela and Sehwag] but we had done overall planning that we would try to bowl in the right areas and keep varying the pace," he said.
When asked about how crucial was this win for Royal Challengers Bangalore, the young pacer added, "Friday's was a very motivational performance. It was very important for us to win as we had lost close games in the last two-three encounters. so this was really important and I am really happy that things went our way at the right point of time."
Bangalore are now fourth on the points table, two points ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have played one game less than RCB.
