New Delhi: Union Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal MP, Akhilesh Prasad Singh allegedly beat up the station manager of Kingfisher Airlines at Patna Airport on Monday after he was not allowed to board Patna-Kolkata flight as he reported late at the airport.
“Station manager Sagar has lodged an FIR against Akhilesh Singh. Singh had abused the manager at the airport,” police inspector M K Mandal said.
Just ten minutes before the departure of Patna-Kolkata flight, Akhilesh Singh arrived at the airport.
When Sagar informed him that he cannot board as the aircraft had begun taxiing, Singh allegedly assaulted and abused him.
Kingfisher Airlines has issued a statement giving a detailed account of the incident. It says: “Considering the fact that the aircraft had begun taxiing, our Airport Manager told Singh that he could not join the flight as we were told that he was not coming. That was when Singh assaulted and abused our Airport Manager in the VIP lounge in the presence of several witnesses."
In the past too a similar incident took place when a Rajya Sabha MP got into a tiff with an Air India pilot that led to the MP's eviction from the aircraft.
Though investigations were launched into the incident, nothing conclusive came out in the end. And it seems like this incident too is not going to be an exception.
