Another minor raped in Capital

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The national Capital is increasingly becoming unsafe for women. In yet another incident of rape in Delhi, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person near a police chowki in Kamla Market in central Delhi on Saturday evening.

The victim reportedly is a resident of the GB road locality and has been admitted to the LNJP Hospital.

The identity of her assailant is still unknown. But police have registered an FIR.

There have already been four rape cases of minors in the Capital in this month alone. On April 3, a minor was raped in a moving car in Jhwala district.

On April 13, a 14-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped by an acquaintance in her home.

And on April 24, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped in a moving vehicle by a traffic cop and a property dealer.

Meanwhile, the NCW has recommended enhanced punishment for rape and other forms of sexual assault.

NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas said"There should be some provision for rape victims so that they can come in the mainstream again. In most of the cases, the victim fearing backlash from the society does not resister a case in police station."
