Shahdol: Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi launched the Congress campaign against the Shivraj Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Addressing a rally in Shahdol, he made an emotional pitch to the tribals and the poor.
"Sonia Gandhi was ill when the Food Bill was being passed. She refused to leave Parliament despite being ill. She said that she will not leave until the Bill gets passed. We had to forcibly take her to the hospital," said Rahul Gandhi.
He also promised more power to the youth if the Congress was voted to power. "We will push the youth forward if we form government in Madhya Pradesh. We will give respect and food to all," Rahul said.
Stressing that the BJP government in the state has failed to protect tribals and women, Rahul said, "People talk about how the government should be and how development should be. The biggest thing for me is respect. I want to ask the youth and tribal women sitting here, did the MP government respect you?"
"We can't talk about development with those who are hungry. They build roads and drive fancy cars. If the Congress forms the government here we will respect the youth and tribal people here," Rahul said.
