Lucknow: There is a fresh twist into the brutal killing of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Superintendent of Police Zia-ul-Haque in Pratapgarh. The government doctors citing his post-mortem report have said that his life could have been saved had he been taken to the hospital within 30 minutes of being shot.

Eyewitnesses and local police say the first attempt to save a life was made for the brother of gram pradhan Nanhe Yadav who was also killed that day. Questions are also being raised as to why the DSP's own force did not take him to the hospital on time and where were they when he was being attacked.

The post-mortem report also revealed that he was beaten up before being shot dead. The report, a copy of which is with CNN-IBN, revealed that there were injuries on the DSP's eyebrows, fingers and ears.

This is in direct conflict with what the Uttar Pradesh ADG, Law and Order, Arun Kumar had said on Tuesday. Arun Kumar had said that there was no evidence to show that Zia-ul-Haq was beaten up before being killed. On the other hand, the DSP's wife, Dr Parveen Azad had contended that he was shot multiple times and beaten up before being killed.

Meanwhile, the CBI is all set to start a probe into the DSP's death. This comes in the backdrop of a growing demand for action against Samajwadi Party leader Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya who is an accused in the case.

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav warned that nobody, including former minister Raja Bhaiya, will be spared, if found guilty. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Samajwadi Party leader also alleged that many of the issues in UP are being created by the political opponents like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

"I have done what I could have done to prevent the situation. I want to state it clearly, no one, including Raja Bhaiya will be spared," Akhilesh, son of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, said. The DSP was killed in clashes that broke out after the murder of the panchayat chief and his brother in Raja Bhaiya's constituency.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Raja Bhaiya had said that he was being framed and that his aide Guddu Singh, who has been arrested, too was innocent. He added that Guddu Singh was in Lucknow at the time of the murder and that he was not involved.

"Was Guddu Singh with Raja Bhaiya at my residence? I don't know who comes with whom to my place," Akhilesh remarked.
