Kunda: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was killed during clashes between villagers and police in Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya's constituency, Kunda. The incident took place when the infuriated villagers went on a rampage following the murder of a gram pradhan and his brother.
Zia Ul Haq suffered gunshots and succumbed to the injuries late Saturday night after an exchange of fire between villagers and police in Kunda. An inspector and the DSP's gunner also sustained injuries.
Reports say the pradhan who was murdered had a land dispute with the driver of Raja Bhaiya. The controversial minister Raja Bhaiya was recently divested of prison department in a reshuffle of portfolios by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The villagers blamed the police for refusing to act when the pradhan said he feared for his life.
