Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has constituted a special crack team to visit Kunda to initiate murder case investigations into the killing of Deputy SP Zia-Ul-Haq and two others. The case has been given to a special crime team of CBI that will visit Kunda soon.
This came on a day when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav visited the family of the murdered village pradhan. The Gram Pradhan and his brother were killed along with Deputy SP Zia-Ul-Haque on Saturday.
Akhilesh assured strong steps by the state government to nab the culprits. "We have given Rs 20 lakh to the widows of the slain gram pradhan and his brother. The government will take strong steps to nab the culprits. We have referred the case to the CBI," Akhilesh Yadav said.
This came even as the Addional DGP of UP, Arun Kumar, ruled out the arrest of former minister Raja Bhaiya. Four days after the murder, the police have failed to record the statement of key eyewitnesses. A constable, who was accompanying the Deputy SP, has not been questioned so far.
Earlier on Tuesday, Raja Bhaiya pleaded innocence in the DSP murder case and said that he was a victim of political conspiracy. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Kunda MLA said that he was being framed and that his aide Guddu Singh, who has been arrested, too was innocent.
Opposition leader Mayawati slammed the state government for its inaction. "They have not taken action against Raja Bhaiya. There is no law and order in UP. President's rule is the only option."
