New Delhi: BJP president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that only an ''unblemished CM'' could perform the job of sending tainted politicians to jail.
He was addressing an election meeting. Singh said that BSP chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav were both talking of putting the other in jail, if they return to power.
''Both have CBI probes pending against them in corruption cases,” UNI quoted him as saying.
“The day CBI files a chargesheet against them, they would be behind bars...this can only be done by a CM, who is himself clean,'' he added.
Assailing the SP government, he alleged that Mulayam Singh Yadav had been blowing the trumpet of transforming UP into an 'Uttam Pradesh' (ideal state), but he had ''failed miserably''.
''UP faces with widespread anarchy. The power scenario is dismal while the CM had promised to improve upon electricity supply,'' he said.
Taking a swipe at BSP, Singh said the party of 'Bahujan Samaj' had now become a party of 'Sarvajan Samaj'.
