Amethi: Hitting the campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi's sister Priyanka said that the people of the state were fed up with the Mayawati government.
"People are fed up with the present government," said Priyanka as she shook hands with the people who had gathered to meet her.
Speaking to reporters, Priyanka added that the biggest challenge facing the country presently was corruption and lawlessness.
"The biggest enemy for us is corruption and lawlessness and the people also feel this way. The people have realised that this kind of politics is not working and they want to bring about a change and I believe that they will."
Priyanka, however, said that she was only concentrating on ten constituencies in UP, including Amethi and Raebareli.
"I've been asked to look after these 10 constituencies. I haven't decided what I'll do yet but I think I'll stay... I'll stick to Amethi and Rae Bareli for now," she said.
Priyanka has been feverishly campaigning for Rahul in the politically significant state ever since the Election Commission blew the poll bugle.
She campaigned in Babuganj on January 16 and toured the state for the next three days covering Amethi and Raibareli.
She even hinted that she was ready to join politics if her brother wanted her to.
"(I) will campaign in Amethi and Rae Bareli right now. I will do anything Rahul wants me to do. (I) haven't decided yet on joining active politics. If Rahul wants me to campaign, I will campaign," she said, thus hinting at the clear shift in the power centre within the party, from Sonia to Rahul.
The elections for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will be held in February in seven phases.
