Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has cracked the whip in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), freezing the appointments of over 15,000 health personnel, including doctors, under the scheme. Health Minister Ahmad Hasan froze the appointments following complaints of anomalies in appointments and allegations of irregularities against Chief Medical Officers (CMO) in various districts.
The whole recruitment process will be scrutinised. No appointment letters will be issued to candidates who have made the cut so far, till the scrutiny is complete.
The move comes after the Gonda CMO, SP Singh, was allegedly abducted and harassed by an ex-minister in the UP government, Vinod Singh, for reportedly refusing to appoint candidates recommended by him. Singh had alleged anomalies in the appointment process.
