UP: Violent clashes between Mau jail inmates and authorities

Mau: Violent clashes have broken out between inmates of Mau jail and prison authorities in Uttar Pradesh.

The clashes broke out after inmates accused authorities of not providing immediate medical assistance to under trial Sayed Ur Rehman, who died earlier on Wednesday.

22-year-old Rehman, a rape accused, allegedly died due to lack of medical attention.

District jailors Uday Raj Patel and Rakesh Singh have been badly injured and have been rushed to the Mau district hospital.

Five other policemen have also suffered injuries.
