Click to play videoNew Delhi: A week after Delhi Police busted a blood donation racket in the Capital, the Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a group of people for allegedly providing spurious blood to more than one lakh people.
“You would get any denomination of blood you want. They just put the requisite sticker on the pouch and give it to you,” says SP Paresh Pandey.
The UP police have arrested six people for allegedly running the blood bank illegally in Lucknow's Thakurganj area.
The police are also worried about the patients who would have bought blood from the group.
“The blood could be fake also. We have a strong feeling about it but we will have to get the tests done,” Pandey said.
Experts say if the incorrect blood group is administered to a patient he may end up suffering from various serious complications.
More than eight members of the gang are still on the run. The police have recovered more than 70 pouches, syringes, fake stamps and stickers.
