Kanpur: In first of its kind case, three men in Kanpur have been booked under the National Security Act on charges of eve teasing.
The trio had allegedly teased a girl when they were drunk. The bystanders beat them up and handed over to the police, who then booked them under the NSA.
On an average there are three eve teasing cases reported every day in the district. Taking the matter seriously the police decided to invoke the NSA against those charged of eve teasing involving violence.
"Many think the city is unsafe for girls. So our seniors have asked us to take the matter seriously and hence NSA has been slapped on them. They are threat to our society, hence imposing NSA is justified," say the police.
In accordance with the decision, proceedings for invoking NSA against three youths who were arrested on Wednesday night from Harbansh Mohal area of the district for allegedly eve teasing two girls have been initiated.
