In a shocking case of apathy in Kannauj, a woman is forced to give birth on the road after a hospital refused to admit her, allegedly because she didn't have enough money.

The poor pregnant woman was allegedly denied admission in a district hospital in Kannauj, uttar Pradesh. She was forced to give birth on the roadside. The newborn survived.

The victim's husband alleges the nursing staff demanded of Rs 15 hundred bribe which he could not afford. He alleges that they manhandled his wife and told them the foetus was already dead.

"I hired a car. She delivered the baby on spot. We went to call the doctor, told her that the baby is born, admit her. She didn't come out for an hour. They asked us for money. They said that give Rs 1500 and then we will admit her. And she was not given a bed till we submitted the money," said Sushil, Mamta's Husband.

The hospital has denied the allegation but refused to comment further. The police has promised to catch the guilty.
