New Delhi: A day after the Supreme Court cancelled 122 licences in the 2G spectrum case, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Friday accused the UPA government of misusing the NDA government's policy on 2G formulated in 2003.
Joshi blamed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said that the responsibility of taking action is that of the Prime Minister as well as the Cabinet headed by him. "In case the Prime Minister doesn't take any action, then he would be held responsible. The Prime Minister owes an explanation to the nation. He was in the know of everything," said Joshi.
Joshi also urged the Prime Minister and said he should speak about the role of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the mega scam.
The senior BJP leader said if the Prime Minister believes in zero tolerance then he should remove Union Ministers Kapil Sibal and P Chidambaram immediately.
Hailing the apex court's judgement, Joshi said, "It has proved that there is no way out for Chidambaram."
He asserted that Kapil Sibal said that they were following NDA's 2003 policy but SC has not quashed any of the license allotted during tenure of NDA in 2003. "They misused first come, first serve policy of the NDA government," said Sibal.
Mentioning the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report, Joshi said, "Whatever we recommended in PAC report has been upheld by the SC in its judgment - like cancellation of licences. We did not buy zero-loss theory of Kapil Sibal and so does the Supreme Court."
