Uproar in J&K Assembly as MLAs throw mikes, demand Afzal Guru's body be brought back

Srinagar: There was more uproar in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday as an independent MLA was seen throwing a mike. MLAs stormed the well and shouted slogans after which the PDP staged a walkout demanding that Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's body be brought back.

They were protesting against Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's assertion that executed terrorist Afzal Guru's body will remain in Tihar Jail. The PDP continues to demand that the state government brings back the body of Afzal Guru to Kashmir.

Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was hanged and buried in the premises of Tihar Jail in Delhi on February 9. Since his execution, there have been demands from Jammu and Kashmir that the body should be handed over to his family.

Jammu and Kashmir Cheif Minister Omar Abdullah had also condemned the Guru's execution and has criticised the government for its move. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti had said, "Government is a puppet government, it has failed the people."
