New Delhi: Swine flu or no swine flu, Indian students are determined to fly to the US to pursue their dreams. American universities are the chosen destination of at least 76,000 Indian students every year.

But with increasing concerns about swine flu, the Health Minister on Monday urged the student community to suspend their trips to the US.

“Nothing is going to stop me from going to the US. Swine flu is not going to chance my plans,” says Sana Chopra. She has got admission in Emory University in Atlanta.

“I respect the Government for its intentions but I have worked so hard for four years to get into this university,” she adds.

And like Sana, Nalin has also got through one of the topmost universities in the US where he plans to study Mechanical engineering.

Currently, there are 95,000 Indian students studying in the US. And this year, the American universities have recorded a 12 per cent increase. The number of Indian students applying for masters and doctoral studies has also increased by about 6 per cent in the last three years.
