Nadiad: Emotional scenes were prevalent at Maatruchhaya, an orphanage in Nadiad in Gujarat, as a baby girl from the orphanage has been adopted by Governor Jon Huntsman.
The celebrations stretch right upto Utah in America as the governor of the American state of Utah, his wife and children came to adopt little Kanak on Tuesday.
Not just a new home, one-year-old Kanak has got a new name too – Asha, which means hope.
"Her name is Asha. She has a great future ahead of her, but she will never forget this place," said Utah Governor Jon Huntsman.
"It is an emotional moment. But we will never forget these people, who have given their souls to her," said Asha's mother Mary Kaye Huntsman.
They also have high ambition for Asha. "She will return as the ambassador of the United States to India," said Jon Huntsman.
Christmas is all about the blessed hope. And it is this festive season in which Asha has come to the Huntsman family.
But there was a tinge of sadness too at Maatruchhaya.
"Yes, we are happy, but it also pains our heart that there will be one member less in the family," said Asha's caretaker Sister Kokila Parmar
Asha will be the seventh child in the Huntsman family. Jon and Mary Kaye Huntsman have five children of their own and have two adopted children.
