New Delhi: The barrage of gunfire on the Virginia tech campus is a call to action for those who want to protect students by arming them.
And you may be shocked to hear that hundreds of students are already carrying loaded guns into the classroom.
Dawn breaks over the university of Utah. Students pack their books for class Jared Sano, a computer science major - packs his computer and a 45 a heckler and Koch - discreetly hidden under his jacket.
Thomas Mc Crory is studying accounting. He never leaves his dorm without his 40 Caliber, Sig Sauer strapped to his side.
Here in Utah if you have permit - it's legal for anyone over 21 to carry concealed weapons to classes. Professor Barbara Nash says a school campus is no place for guns.
Nash says, “The idea is that if you have more guns in the hands of more people it's better for society. It's a stupid and dangerous point of view."
"I am a responsible gun owner. I lockup my gun when I am not using it. I'm not some trigger hungry redneck who's going to whip out his piece if there's a disagreement in class," Nash adds.
The Utah shooting sports council estimates more than 500 university students on this campus alone carry concealed weapons.
In class - Jared is not required to inform his professor or classmates.
“I had no idea at all! Does it bother you? It actually makes me feel safer," Jared said.
"It would make me feel more comfortable not knowing who's carrying a gun so i can have the same association with everyone," Maryam Mortazavi added.
Jared and Thomas say it's their constitutional right to bear arms – and wonder if it would have made a difference if students at Virginia Tech had had the same opportunity.
