US men had maps of nuclear power site: Pak

Islamabad: An investigation continues in Pakistan in connection with five Americans taken into custody there on suspicion of trying to link up with terrorist elements.

Police say they are trying to determine whether the young Muslim men, who are from the Washington, DC area, had been plotting to attack a complex that houses nuclear power facilities.

The five were picked up in Pakistan earlier this month. The case has bred fears that Westerners are traveling to the South Asian country to join terror groups.

Pakistani police and government officials have made a series of allegations about the men's intentions, while US officials have been far more cautious.

But American officials are also considering bringing charges against them.

A Pakistani government official alleges that the men had established contact with Taliban commanders and planned to attack sites in Pakistan. Earlier, however, local police accused the men of intending to fight in Afghanistan.
