New Delhi: The US has said that it will not intervene in the Kashmir issue.

It has however, expressed a desire to help build trust between India and Pakistan so that the two can resolve the matter bilaterally.

Pakistan has said that a resolution of the Kashmir dispute will help it focus on fighting militants along the Afghanistan border.

But the US has said Kashmir is a separate issue altogether.
