Usurer arrested

BANGALORE:  The sleuths of the Fraud and Misappropriation squad of the Central Crime Branch arrested a money-lender for allegedly harassing public by charging exorbitant interest rates.
The police have identified the accused as Sunil Kotari, (34), resident of Kalyannagar on Nagarabhavi Main Road. The police have estimated that he has made financial transactions to the tune of `25 lakh.
According to police, the accused was running Sunil Jewellers in Agrahara Dasarahalli 8th Main and was giving loans to people at an interest rate of 15-30 per cent. If they failed to pay the loan with interest, he allegedly increased the rate of interest and harassed them.
The police have seized blank cheques and other documents. A case has been registered in Kamakshipalya police station in this connection.
