Kodiyala: A 3-year old child, who had been found hurt and isolated at flood-hit Uttarakhand's Kodiyala almost two weeks ago has finally been identified. The child had been separated from her grandparents during the flood fury on the stretch between Rishikesh and Devprayag and had been found abandoned at the Doon Hospital with both legs fractured.
The child has been identified as Jyoti and her family has been traced to Bagvan village in Srinagar district of Uttarakhand. The child lost both her grandparents in the floods.
The child had been unable to communicate anything about her coordinates. CNN-IBN had reported her story and had appealed for any information on her family.
Meanwhile, three members of a family were killed in Dehradun on Monday when their house collapsed after a fresh spell of rains stalled relief work in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said the number of missing people has mounted to over 4,700.
The northern state was hit by torrential rains on June 16 that had triggered fatal floods and massive landslides. The floods swept away villages, killing hundreds of people.
