New Delhi: Uttrakhand Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri is doing all he can to woo voters. He's also trying to wipe the slate clean, undoing the effect of corruption allegations against his predecessor.

"After winning the elections, Khanduri will be our CM," said BJP President Nititn Gadkari.

Khanduri is BJP's last and only hope for retaining power in Uttarakhand and 'Khanduri has zaroori' campaign dominating the party's poll pitch in the state.

Touring extensively, Khanduri is emphasising on the anti-graft measures like Lokayukya and citizens charter laws that enacted during his second innings, but he cannot simply wish away the rule of his predecessor.

"The people abviously will judge us on the work done during the whole of five years," said Khanduri.

Khanduri was drafted as the Chief Minister just six months before the polls to replace Ramesh Pokhariyaal Nishank in the face of a slew of graft allegations.

Sparing Khanduri, Baba Ramdev and Team Anna, while touring the state, target Nishank and the Congress on corruption and the Lokpal Bill.

"Be it BJP or BSP, all these parties tried to pass a weak Lokpal Bill in the Lok Sabha", said Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal.

"We are asking the people not to vote for all those candidates who are insensitive to the issues pertaining to the common people," he added.

Creating further problems for Khanduri is another freind turned foe, Lt General TPS Rawat. Rawat has launched his own regional outfit and is trying to eat into BJP's ex-servicemen votebank.

After five years in power, for the BJP, Khanduri remains the best bet to nutralise a huge anti-incumbebcy. In its effort to underscores the General's utility for the state, the party is betraying his indispensibility in the campaign.
