Mumbai: The controversial play Vagina Monologues is all set for its 200th show in India. And it is marking the occasion by launching V-Day India, a movement to stop violence against women.

“What is amazing is that in America the shows that I've seen it is the women who respond that way, but in India, it is the men who respond that way,” says Poor Box Productions co-proprietor, Kaizaad Kotwal.

Talking about the men lending their support to the cause are Imran Khan, Farhan Akhtar and choreographer Sandip Soparkar.

While Sandip is staging a dance performance, Imran will actually be a part of the play – the first male actor ever.

“My theatre experience is nil, so I am nervous about that,” says Imran.

“No actor, who is not worth his salt, is not servous,” says actress, co-proprietor Poor Box Productions, Mahabano Mody Kotwal.

Well, that comes from a woman who brought this Eve Ensler's play to India in 2003 and has been the face of it ever since. The show is scheduled on the March 25 at the NCPA's Tata theatre in Mumbai. And here are some good reasons not to miss it.

“One real good reason is come and be entertained and get the message across to your friends and others that violence against women must stop,” adds Kotwal.

“If anyone out there thinks that violence against women is wrong, which I hope many people do, they must come out and support the cause,” says Imran.

“This play even though six women are sitting on the stage, it has all the navrasas, what more do you want from the play,” says Kotwal.
