Jaipur: Normal life was hit in Rajasthan with a statewide bandh called by the Gurjars on Thursday. For Rajasthan Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje, this means more criticism coming her way and this time from within her party.

There are no takers for peace because the Gurjars are now saying the blood they have shed cannot go waste. The fire started by the Raje government threatens to burn her own house and dissidents in her own party say she is too arrogant

Rajasthan BJP leader, Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi says, "Harsh words from the government are tantamount to fueling the fire."

Another Rajasthan BJP leader, Hari Shankar Bhabra adds, "There was no need for all of this (Gurjar drama)."

Two senior BJP leaders, Prakash Javadekar and Kalraj Mishra have parked themselves in Jaipur to counsel the Chief Minister. They want heads to roll in the police hierarchy for poor handling of the agitation.

For Raje, there is hardly a way out and none of the compromise formulae can please everybody in an election year. An adamant Gurjar leadership says it can't think of negotiating with her.

Member, Gurjar Arakshan Samity, Roop Singh says, "We are very optimistic that there are people in the nation who will help us. If we think that only Vasundhara ji can solve this, then it is not so."

11, Ashoka Road in Delhi — the BJP headquarters — now thinks that it is time to step in.

The BJP is caught in a bind. It has nothing to offer to the Gurjars and the party realises that just months before Rajasthan is to go to polls, it's rather late in the day to consider a change of guard.
