London: Michael Vaughan complained of "a few aches and pains" after Yorkshire's loss to Hampshire in the County Championship and said he needed to play some more domestic cricket before being sure about his fitness for a return to the international arena.
"I know that it is hard for people to accept that I am playing for Yorkshire and not England but I am some way off being at an international standard of fitness at the moment," Vaughan was quoted as saying by the Independent.
"I have been hidden a bit in the field in this game and I have to make sure that when I come back for England I am 100 per cent fit. I have still got a few aches and pains but my progress is on the rise," he added.
Vaughan, who hit a fifty in the inaugural First Division match, could not prevent his side's loss as Hampshire captain Shane Warne took six wickets to take his team to victory.
The regular England captain has been undergoing rehabilitation after his right knee was operated for a career threatening injury.
