New Delhi: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has openly criticized the United States for its role in the Gaza Conflict.
He said the ground offensive launched by Israeli troops had the blessings of the Bush administration.
Speaking at a party meeting, Chavez said Israel must stop what he called "genocidical" attacks on Gaza.
He urged the United Nations and governments of other countries to come forward and demand an end to this conflict.
Israeli officials have said that instead of observers monitoring a future truce, Israel wants an international mission on the Egyptian-Gaza border to focus on preventing Hamas from re-establishing a network of smuggling tunnels.
