Mumbai: An artistic response to 26/11. Members of the art and design community have reacted to Mumbai's terror attacks through the pages of fashion magazine, Verve
So the usual film stars and models have been given a miss for a work of art. Like the one by aditi Singh who turned to nature to find her voice in the city's collective tragedy.
"I was painting away, I was tremendously prolific at that time because there was this kind of a festering anger yet scilence as well because i couldnt express myself anywher, I am not into protest, marches or candle light vigils and the best way for me to express my anger is through my work," says Artist, Aditi Singh:
"We were putting together the issue, we realised that all these people had lots to say, that the tv channels, in their bid to cover the news, did not explore - the emotional, artistic expression, " says Editorial Director, Verve Parmesh Shahani.
The issue also features works by photographers, journalists and writers, all of whom have responded to Mumbai's crisis in ways they know best.
Some artistes like filmmaker Shekhar Kapur have chosen a different medium to express their reactions.
While some photographs were shot on location during the attacks and during its aftermath, other responses have been a healing process.
