Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Chennai organised a blood donation drive in Chennai under the banner of the Akhil Bharitya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad( ABTYP) today on the foundation day of the organisation.
You have (Blood), You can (Donate Blood) was the slogan of this Mega Blood Donation Drive, which took place across 36 centres in the city with people from all walks of life volunteering to donate blood.
Alankar Aacha, coordinator of the blood donation drive in Chennai said, “This is the first time we are conducting a blood donation camp at a mega scale. I am sure this drive will motivate people to come forward to donate blood on a regular basis.”
As a part of this camp they created awareness about the need of blood donation, eradicated the various myths pertaining to blood donation, encouraged people to donate regularly and frequently and also created a data bank of voluntary donors. The Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad is a youth forum which was formed by the vision of Acharya Shri Tulsi to generate opportunities and chances for the youth to serve people. Under its service mission, ABTYP runs and manages activities of social causes like blood donation drives, medical check-up camps and many more.
Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy, who inagurated the drive, was all praise for it. He said such camps were very crutial as it helped save several lives. He also appreciated the good work done by Terapanth Yuvak Parishad towards the welfare of the general public.
Deputy Mayor, P Benjamin, also launched the drive at a center in Maduravoyal. The ABTYP blood donation drive took place across 1,500 centres in the country and it is hoped that close to one lakh units of blood will be collected .
