New Delhi: With political equations changing rapidly in Uttar Pradesh and Congress doing an about-turn and embracing Amar Singh and Mulayam, Mayawati has become the ruling party's enemy number one.

She claims she knows why. “This is happening because Congress and SP are pushing the CBI,” she says.

Everybody against the nuclear deal feels that she is being victimised. BJP's Prime Ministerial hopeful L K Advani has already reached out to Mayawati and promised her protection and development support if his party takes over the reins at the Centre.

The SP-Congress-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance in Uttar Pradesh sees it as an attempt to counter the growing clout of the Dalit queen.

As she attempts to break new grounds outside Uttar Pradesh, the Congress is looking for someway of restricting her politics to UP.

Mayawati is not going to take this onslaught lying down. “Congress shall understand; we are not going to be scared,” she says.

Like her mentor Kanshi Ram, Mayawati doesn't believe in pre-poll alliances. But she'll definitely remember these offers to lend a helping hand in an ambiguous post-poll scenario.
