New Delhi: A holiday turned into a nightmare for the Delhi-based Jain family who lost their six family members in the boat mishap at the Periyaar Wildlife sanctuary in Kerala.
The Jains are very angry with the Kerala administration. They complain that the boats were overloaded during the mishap, there were no life jackets and no safety measures were taken by the state authorities.
“We are not getting any help from the government. They are not bothered,” says a victim’s relative, Rahul Sharma.
Similarly, Delhi-based Amit Jogia recounts the horror of the tragedy. He lost his wife Shivali Jogia in the mishap.
“It happened in a fraction of a second. Only one thought crossed my mind that I am dead,” says Amit.
Forty-five-year-old Panchan Jalingam from Coimbatore is also devastated. Nine members of his family, including his wife and two children, died in the mishap.
Meanwhile, the Kerala government has ordered a judicial probe into the accident.
