Manchester: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says defender Nemanja Vidic's three-month injury layoff will end on Saturday with an appearance against Sunderland in the English Premier League.
Ferguson preferred not to play Vidic in the Manchester derby on Sunday, but says "I think the Sunderland game definitely."
Vidic underwent an operation on his problematic right knee in September. Without him, United has had the worst defence in the league's top four.
His return could compensate for Jonny Evans, who was deputising for Vidic but has been suffering from fitness problems and may miss the Sunderland game.
