Vienna gurudwara attack: One suspect let off

Vienna/London: One of the six suspects, detained in connection with an attack of a gurudwara in Vienna last month, has been released from police custody due to lack of evidence.
The released suspect was arrested along with others after the two Indian Sikh preachers were attacked at Ravi Dass Gurdwara near the Westbahnhof railway station in Vienna on DATE.
"The man has been released because there has not been enough evidence against him to justify keeping him behind bars," said his lawyer, Philipp Winkler.
According to police, three other suspects including the alleged mastermind in the killing of Dera Sachh Khand Guru Ramandand Dass, will remain in custody.
A decision on two other suspects would be taken next week, police said.
Guru Ramandand Dass was killed during the attack, while Sant Niranjan Dass was severely injured, police said.
The suspect who led the attack sustained a gunshot wound in his head and is in police custody in an artificially-induced coma in a Vienna hospital.
The body of Sant Ramanand was flown to India in a special chartered flight sent by the Indian Government.
He was cremated earlier this week in Punjab.
Investigators probing the incident have secured over 300 pieces of forensic evidence.
This means it could take months before the first results of the investigation are disclosed, police said.
The incident had sparked off violent clashes in Punjab and Haryana between followers of different sects.
