There is collective political outrage and angst at former president A P J Abdul Kalam being made to pass through security checks on a flight from New Delhi to the US on the American airline, Continental. While Kalam himself didn’t say anything about the incident except that “it was a fact”, many feel that the former President shouldn’t have been made to go through such "humiliation". Are we making too much of this? Do you think India’s political class is burdened by the VIP syndrome which attaches too much importance to officialdom and hierarchy?
