New Delhi: Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is stable but remains in the ICU of a hospital in Chennai. Vilasrao was admitted there on Monday night following an undisclosed illness. His family says he is responding to the treatment.
A decision on whether or not he needs a liver transplant will be taken in the next 48 hours.
The 67-year-old two-time Maharashtra Chief Minister is under the care of noted liver transplant surgeon Dr Mohamed Rela at the hospital.

He was admitted to Global Super Speciality Hospital for a possible liver transplant.
According to the sources, Deshmukh who is ailing for sometime was brought by the special flight around 6 pm on Monday and immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Deshmukh recently underwent medical tests at the Breach Candy hospital in south Mumbai.
