London: In its first major foray into Bollywood, Fox Star studios India has signed a multiple film deal with producer and director Vipul Shah.

The company, a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and STAR, will initially partner with Shah for the production of two films — a romantic comedy and a special effects driven action movie.

CEO, Fox Star Studios India Vijay Singh says, “For us this is a perfect marriage. We look at Vipul to bring the soul of India and we look at our studios to bring all the skills and the learnings to be able to create a unique product. We intend on this VFX film to work with some of the best in the field. We have identified some writers who have done this work before plus the project will be supervised by the in-house fox VFX team.”

Shah, whose latest film Singh Is Kinng broke all records by taking more than 43 crore in its opening weekend in India alone, feels this move will define a greater market for Hindi films around the globe.

Shah says, “What we are trying to achieve here is getting two cultures to come together. Get the best of Hollywood to make our films better than what we are making now. Plus to take our cinema on to their platform. So far Indian films don't have that much of an impact in the global market.”

The script of the two films will be finalized in the next couple of months.

Fox Star Studios India will be releasing Hollywood films by Twentieth Century Fox and will be remaking some of its past hits in Hindi.
