Mumbai: The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image's 10 international film festival or MAMI is back in Mumbai city with its eclectic collection of cinema from across the world.
On its first night, the buzz was centered on the opening film, Katyn.
"Andrez Wazdeh u know is a great figure in world cinema making films since 50 odd years,” says Chairman, MAMI International Film Festival, Shyam Benegal.
The film festival, which started on the 6th, will go on till the13th of this March. It will feature 140 films from 45 countries. Amongst the highlights at the fest are retrospectives of filmmakers Ritwik Ghatak, Anderj Wajda and Carlos Sora.
Spanish filmmaker Carlos Saura will be given the lifetime achievement award in the the film festival.
“We expect very good cinema from all over the world. We expect young filmmakers film goers a chance to see world cinema, which otherwise they could not have seen,” says director, producer, Yash Chopra.
