New Delhi: The happy to help Vodafone pug Rocky is making news again. The advertisement agency that shot the film moves Bombay High court after the Animal Welfare Board issues them a notice for cruelty to the dog.
The Board served a notice to Nirvana Films, on April 25, on grounds of cruelty to the animal.
The notice said the dog was made to gallop and chase a school bus for a long time, which put him under severe stress and exhaustion.
Talking about the issue executive producer of Nirvana films Sneha Iype says that her agency has been shooting with pugs for the last five years and that they have been strictly following the law.
“The notice is basically for the running part, we have been shooting for the ad since last five years, we take up most care of the dog. We shot this ad in South Africa where the animal laws are very stringent, we used have a vet with us all the time pre and post medical check up of the dog was done and he was in good health in very report,” she said.
The agency though states that they had taken all necessary permissions from the South African authorities to shoot the commercial and that it had informed the Animal Welfare Board about the release of the advert.
The petition challenging the Animal Welfare Board's order is filed under Section 21 and 24 of the Protection from Cruelty to Animals Act.
Meanwhile a Vodafone official has replied to the notice. The court has posted the hearing of the case on Monday.
"The Animal Welfare Board does not have the jurisdiction to decide the issue of cruelty and send a notice," said a senior counsel, who will be appearing in the case.
