Bhavnagar: Gujarat Congress on Wednesday virtually launched its campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections with a call to voters to vote out the Narendra Modi government to usher in a "welfare state". On the occasion of Vijayadashami, senior party leaders including PCC chief Arjun Modhwadia, Opposition leader Shaktisinh Gohil and campaign committee chairman Shankarsinh Vaghela slammed Modi by terming his policies as "anti-people, anti-farmers and devoid of any development".

"This Chief Minister has done only one thing in the past 10 years and that is only talking. During his election campaign too, he has never uttered a single word on what he has done for the state during these years," a leader said at the party's first people's convention Bhavnagar.

Taking a dig at Modi for wearing different headgears at public functions, Vaghela said, "Gujarat is not a silver screen for him to wear different kind of attires. He is not a clown or an actor. He should focus on the welfare of the people and not on their entertainment."
