New Delhi: After retiring from the films at the peak of her career, actress and renowned classical dancer Vyjayanthimala is all set to stage a comeback, but in the world of literature.
On Wednesday, the actress will release a tell-all autobiography published by Stellar publishers. And though a popular actor, Vyjayanthimala believes that she's a dancer first.
Vyjayanthimala Bali: This has been my life – to be a dancer. And to be a good dancer, not just another dancer, to try and reach at a certain spiritual level of dancing.
Iram Mirza:: What about your stint in politics? Pandit Nehru was very fond of you.
Vyjayanthimala Bali: Oh yes, that has been a very glorious and long association with Panditji. There was so much emotion and connectivity (sic).
Iram Mirza: What about your co-stars? Who was the one co-star you really got along well with in your time?
Vyjayanthimala Bali: I got along with all my co-stars. Dilip Kumar was very good. We made a good team. We paired well.
Iram Mirza: In Sangam you were linked with Raj Kapoor and that was the first time you came out and said everything you had to say.
Vyjayanthimala Bali: I had to come out with the truth that there wasn’t anything like that. So I had to be very candid about the whole thing. I was just working with a co-star who was well known for his way of working and treating his heroines. He did it for his film and did whatever he could to publicise his film. Probably, it was a part of his publicity stunt.
The autobiography titled Bonding… will be hit the shelves this week and is priced at Rs 645.
