Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya is known for his radical ways. But would the popular Left leader turn to the Internet looking for friends and women for dating?
That's what his profile (supposedly put out by Buddha himself) on Orkut, the popular networking site claims.
While stating facts about him like his marital status and occupation, the profile adds that he is also a social drinker and a regular smoker.
Over 170 people had visited the profile till Saturday afternoon, many of who believed he was the real Buddha and had written to him congratulating him for his good work.
But a report published in a local daily took the lid off this practical prank on Friday night. And ever since regular users of the site and hardcore Buddhadeb fans have lashed back at the person who created the fake profile.
The cops have also swung into action with an effort to track down the prankster.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's office refused to comment on the issue and the cops investigating the case are still looking for a clue.
