WB hooch tragedy: HC puts compensation on hold

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court has put the compensation for the families of the hooch tragedy victims on hold for eight weeks. This came after a PIL was filed challenging the compensation announced by the state government for the victims.

The PIL challenged the rationale behind the payment of the compensation.

The West Bengal government had announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the victims' families.
