The CPI(M)-led Left Front, which had 199 seats in the outgoing Assembly, contested in a total of 290 seats in the 294 assembly. It had given two seats each to RJD and NCP.

The Left, will resume charge of the administration for a record seventh consecutive term.

All result inputs would be sent to Election Commission headquarters in Delhi for compilation and the EC would later disseminate the final results through the internet and media centres, Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Sen said.

In keeping with the three-tier security arrangement, 60 companies of central para-military forces have been deployed for manning the first security ring in the counting centers.

The state and city police would look after security outside the counting centres in the third ring, said Sen.
