Kolkata: A man lost his legs after he was hit by an engine while crossing the railway tracks at Katwa, Burdwan on Tuesday. Reports say that nobody from the railway or the police came forward to help the man whose legs were severed.
Unattended to, the man, from Nadia district in West Bengal, lay on the tracks for nearly one hour.
It was only after journalists reached the spot that the man was taken to the nearest hospital. However, the operation theatre at the hospital was found locked.
At around 6 pm, four hours after the accident, the man was taken to another hospital where he was finally treated.
