Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers on Friday ransacked a police station in Chaighoria in North 24 Parganas district over alleged police inaction on complaints of financial irregularities by a panchayat member.
TMC workers and local villagers had lodged a complaint on February 11 accusing a panchayat member of corruption. On Friday they went to the police station and after finding that the inspector in charge was not present, they destroyed property and ransacked the office.
On Wednesday, TMC workers had chopped off a panchayat official's ear and beaten up a school headmaster for participating in the trade unions' strike.
