Tara fights for Hogenakkal water project

Priyanjana Dutta, CNN-IBN

Bangalore: The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) is going on a hunger strike to protest against "violence on Tamil people in Karnataka" and the banning of their films in that state over the Hogenakkal Fall Water Project.

National award winning actor Tara joined protestors in Bangalore. CNN-IBN’s Priyanjana Dutta spoke to the actress about her stand.

Priyanjana Dutta: Is this a parallel protest in response to what is happening in Chennai? We understand that Mr Rajinikanth has also joined the protest in Chennai?

Tara: We are not putting up the protest against person. We are just giving support to the cause as we are facing a water problem.

Priyanjana Dutta: The politicians have gone soft on the stand, the CM Karunanidhi and S M Krishna had a war of words. Does it makes sense for film artist to come out and protest for the issue?

Tara: I do not about the politicians but we are showing our support to the cause.
