New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said it was ready for an early Lok Sabha election. The party's statement came a few days after BJP's senior party leader LK Advani predicted early polls in the country.
"We are ready for elections for Lok Sabha and the six scheduled (assembly) elections...it was Advaniji who guided the deliberations and he gave that good governance, prudent politics and ideal image is what is the strength of the BJP and we must present our party in the same fashion," said party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.
The BJP sounded the poll bugle on a day when all its newly-appointed office bearers held their first meeting in the national capital. All the state presidents of the party were called to the capital for the meeting which was chaired by BJP chief Rajnath Singh.
The party was likely to discuss its preparations and strategy for the next Lok Sabha elections and the upcoming state assembly elections, which are slated for 2013. The BJP is planning to give a 300-day plan to its workers to prepare for the elections especially in the rural areas.
