Malda: Days after blaming the West Bengal government for farmer suicides in the state, Congress said on Monday it did not want to bring disrepute to the ruling Trinamool Congress.
"Our intention is not to defame them. We will be very happy if the government works properly," West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Pradip Bhattacharya told reporters in Malda.

On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's seeking funds from the Centre, he said it will not be the right thing to say that the central government has deprived the state.
"The Centre has a lot of sympathy with the state's problem. But I do not understand why are people saying that the Centre is not granting funds to the state," he said.
